Overview

As an Apprentice Fleet Mechanic you are responsible for performing basic vehicle repairs on their own, tasks such as changing brakes, tires, lights, and other vehicle components.  Apprentice mechanics use company-created equipment checklists to determine which repairs are needed on vehicles scheduled to be serviced.

 

 

Schedule: 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM Tuesday - Saturday

Responsibilities

 

Perform basic inspection (check fluids, lights, brakes, etc.).

Perform preventive maintenance on cars, trucks, trailers, & other equipment.

Fuel company equipment.

Keep garage and all working areas clean.

Record and enter maintenance and parts information into the computer.

Work in a safe manner adhering to all MDI, state & federal safety.

Must Be Able to Lift 100 pounds.

Must be able to bend, stoop, stretch, read and write.

Must be able to train on trailer yard spotter and show that you can safely demonstrate safe operation.

Will be required to be on call as needed.

Change truck and trailer tires as needed

May be required to do other jobs or tasks as needed.

 

Qualifications

High school diploma preferred.

2-years of verifiable heavy duty truck experience or 2 year Diesel Technology degree/certificate.

valid NC CDL Driver’s license preferred but not mandatory

Trailer experience needed: Air Brakes, lights, wheel seals

Reefer experience preferred

Work well with minimal supervision.

MUST HAVE OWN TOOLS AND TOOL CHEST.

Truck and trailer Electrical diagnostic experience preferred
