Description 

The Yard Tractor is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of trailers within the facility yard, warehouse, or distribution center. This role ensures trailers are properly positioned to support on-time loading and unloading operations, conducts routine equipment inspections, and maintains clear communication with warehouse staff, drivers, and dispatch. The Yard Tractor plays a critical role in maintaining yard safety, operational flow, and productivity in a fast-paced outdoor environment. 

Responsibilities 

1. Operate yard tractor to move and position trailers within the facility grounds. 

1. Stage trailers at designated docks for loading and unloading according to warehouse schedules. 

1. Perform pre- and post-operation inspections of yard equipment and vehicles; promptly report maintenance, mechanical, or safety concerns.  

1. Coordinate with warehouse personnel, drivers, and dispatch to ensure efficient and timely yard operations. 

1. Maintain accurate records of trailer locations, movements, yard activity as required. 

1. Follow all safety policies, traffic rules, and company procedures while working in high-traffic, outdoor environments.  

1. Respond to dispatch instructions and adjust to changing priorities and operational needs.  

1. Operate fuel trucks to refuel refrigeration trailers on facility grounds, as assigned.  

1. Assist with basic yard maintenance and ensure clear, safe access routes for vehicles and personnel.  

1. Perform other duties as assigned to support transportation and yard operations.

Must have a CDL Class A
