Overview

Major Functions:

 

The Garage Utility Maintenance Technician provides general support to garage operations through facility upkeep, basic administrative assistance, and coordination support for fuel and fleet-related activities. This role focuses on maintaining a clean, organized, and safe garage environment while assisting with documentation, inspections, and day-to-day operational needs. The position supports primary technical, regulatory, and compliance activities as directed. 

 

Schedule: Monday-Friday 6am-3:00pm

Responsibilities

Accountabilities:

  1. Clean and maintain all areas of the garage, trailer buildings, and truck wash facilities; includes washing and cleaning equipment and promptly reporting any issues or malfunctions.
  2. Empty trash and uphold housekeeping standards throughout the facility, ensuring both indoor and outdoor areas are well kept and orderly.
  3. Assist with basic grounds maintenance and upkeep outside the garage, including routine support activities such as scrap metal pickup when directed.
  4. Monitor and maintain the fuel area, including checking diesel fuel, motor oil, and washer fluid levels for purchasing, keeping the area clean and organized, and promptly reporting leaks, damage, or safety concerns.
  5. Check in fuel deliveries and assist with related paperwork; conduct monthly inspections and maintenance of fuel pumps, and coordinate third-party testing and servicing of pumps, storage tanks, and ancillary equipment.
  6. Purchase and return license plates as required for fleet vehicles.
  7. Organize, distribute, and maintain vehicle-related paperwork, forms, and tags; ensure commonly used documents are readily available and support mechanics in documentation needs.
  8. Process basic documents related to garage and fleet operations, including administrative tasks and recordkeeping.
  9. Perform basic visual checks of safety equipment, such as fire extinguishers, to ensure compliance and readiness.
  10. Assist mechanics and other garage staff with various tasks as needed, providing general operational support.
  11. Coordinate routine support activities and respond to direction for additional facility-related duties.
  12. Perform other related duties as assigned to support garage operations and fleet maintenance.

 

Qualifications

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Must be able to bend, stoop, and lift up to 100 pounds; work requires regular standing, walking, lifting, and other physical activity, primarily in a garage environment with exposure to noise, odors, moving equipment, and varying weather conditions.
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Report and preferred CDL A or B license.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work safely in a garage environment; self-starter who can work with minimal supervision.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Certified Primary Operator for underground storage tanks (or willingness to obtain within a designated timeframe); forklift and pallet jack certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Basic knowledge of preventative maintenance or garage operations; familiarity with fuel systems, fleet environments, or maintenance facilities.
