Overview

 

Major Functions:

The Operations Manager leads warehouse operations with a strong focus on safety, quality, engagement, and continuous improvement. You will partner with supervisors and cross‑functional teams to ensure efficient inbound and outbound execution while maintaining compliance with all regulatory, customer, and company standards. You will drive performance through clear expectations, data‑driven decision‑making, and consistent coaching, building a culture of accountability, respect, and teamwork. Your leadership will support high levels of safety, quality, service, attendance, and productivity while equipping teams with the tools and direction needed to succeed

Responsibilities

Accountabilities:

  • Leads and treats associates respectfully and equally by promoting company core values in a team‑oriented, inclusive, and high‑engagement environment.
  • Leads, coaches, and develops salaried supervisors and hourly team members through clear expectations, regular feedback, coaching conversations, and performance discussions.
  • Supports hiring, onboarding, training, and succession planning for supervisory and hourly roles.
  • Fosters strong communication across shifts and departments to ensure alignment in daily execution.
  • Champions a culture of safety through training, observation, accountability, and continuous reinforcement of safe work practices.
  • Ensures compliance with all company policies and applicable local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA, FDA, HACCP, FSMA, and SQF.
  • Reviews safety, quality, and productivity metrics and implements corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensures associates are properly trained and certified in required safety, quality, and standard operating procedures.
  • Oversees inbound receiving and outbound order selection, assembly, and loading to ensure timeliness, accuracy, and adherence to procedures.
  • Partners with Transportation and other cross‑functional teams to resolve load, service, or capacity issues with minimal customer impact.
  • Monitors daily operational performance and adjusts labor, resources, and priorities to meet service and productivity goals.
  • Supports continuous improvement initiatives by identifying process gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities for standardization.
  • Leverages KPIs across safety, engagement, service, quality, and productivity to drive continuous improvement.
  • Assists in managing departmental expenses, emphasizing labor efficiency, damage reduction, and supply usage to meet or exceed budget expectations.
  • Analyzes trends and data to support operational decisions and long‑term planning.
  • Provides input into the development and refinement of operational procedures, standards, and supporting tools.
  • Communicates goals, performance results, and improvement initiatives clearly and consistently to supervisors and teams.
  • Promotes shared accountability by ensuring teams understand how their roles contribute to customer satisfaction and company success.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support business needs.

Qualifications

Desirable Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 5–7 years of progressive leadership experience in warehouse, distribution, or manufacturing environments.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, make sound decisions, and manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Proficiency with computers, email, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) preferred.
  • Strong analytical, judgment, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Comfortable presenting information in group, classroom, or operational settings.
  • Bilingual skills a plus.
