Overview

MAJOR FUNCTIONS: 

Responsible for ensuring compliance with international trade regulations and accurately entering freight data into our systems.

Requires a strong understanding of global trade compliance, excellent data entry skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments.

Responsibilities

Accountabilities:

  • Handle data entry and preparation of compliance documents for customers and carriers, including inspection documents via online portals for FSIS, USDA APHIS, USDA, Chamber of Commerce, and NC Department of Agriculture.
  • Inform the Commercial Department AR/AP Finance Clerk of any relevant customer charges, fees, and freight vendor invoices that MDI needs to invoice or pay.
  • Maintain an updated and accessible Calendar of Events for all international shipments.
  • Review and maintain international record-keeping functions and mandatory files as required by U.S. law.
  • Collaborate closely with International Order Reps to schedule USDA Inspections and Permits/Certificates request.
  • Collect and maintain a database for accurate product classifications, country of origin, product valuation reporting, and export license applications for all international shipments.
  • Ensure all processed documents comply with US Customs regulations and the customs regulations of the destination country.
  • Manage an internal data warehouse for compiling Harmonized & Schedule B Codes, as well as MFG Plant Est Numbers
  • Coordinate with all inland and ocean carriers, as well as freight forwarders, for the booking and scheduling of international shipments.
  • Provide support for audits and inspections related to international trade compliance.

 

Qualifications

Desirable Qualifications:

  • 2-5 years of customer service or related work experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in International Business preferred
  • Proven experience in international trade compliance and freight data entry
  • Strong knowledge of global trade regulations. Customs requirements, and import/export law
  • Intermediate to Advanced level of Microsoft Office applications
  • Skilled presenter with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Bilingual preferred
